Yunnan Minority Travel, Markets
Edit by Along Discovery on March 20, 2014

Yunnan is located in the Southwest of China which has rich tourist resources including stunning mountain, river scenery, old towns, old architectures, and of course there are many minority groups in the province such as Yi, Hani, Dai(Tai), Yao, Miao, Lahu, Pumi, Zhuang, Naxi, Bulang, Jingpo, Lisu, etc who created rich and mysterious cultures.

Yunnan is a place which was opened to tourists early, thus it was very famous at home and abroad, but probably most of tourists only know about Dali, Lijiang, Xiianggelila, Xishuangbanna, Lugu Lakes, they don't know more about interesting minority people's costumes, life, and if they are tired of visiting those touristic places and spots, and find nowhere to visit, the minority markets in faraway region are recommended.

The best chance to see them with traditional costumes is to visit their markets, during market days, the minority people in remote region in traditional costumes come to sell or buy their daily use of goods, sometimes, at a market, you can see several groups such as Miao, Yi, Yao, Hani, and of course there are different types of costume even among the same minority. For instance, at one market, one can see Sha Yao, Indigo Yao, Red Head Yao who have different decoration of costumes and hairdo.

Why not join us to visit them in the lesser known areas.
